18a. Google Calendar Integration and Limited Use of Google User Data
Teachers on our Platform may connect their Google Calendar so that scheduled classes appear on their own calendar and so that we can avoid scheduling a class at a time they are already busy. Connecting Google Calendar is optional, is initiated by the teacher, and is only ever used for scheduling classes on this Platform.
When a teacher connects their Google account we request the following scopes: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events (to create, update and delete the calendar events for their classes, including the Google Meet link for each class), https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.readonly (to read their existing busy times so we do not double-book them), and the openid and email scopes (solely to confirm that the Google account being connected belongs to the teacher whose account we are linking).
We use Google Calendar data only to create and manage class appointments, to display a teacher's availability to staff, and to prevent double-booking. We read busy time ranges to determine availability; we do not read, store, or display the contents, titles, guests, or descriptions of a teacher's personal calendar events.
Little Scientists LLC's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Google user data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not transfer it to third parties except as necessary to provide this scheduling service, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition. We do not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
Access tokens and refresh tokens are stored encrypted and are used only to perform the actions described above. A teacher may ask an administrator to disconnect their Google account at any time, and may additionally revoke our access directly at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. Revoking access stops all future calendar synchronization; calendar events already created remain on the teacher's calendar until they delete them.
